Australian Jack Miller was second fastest on Tuesday as the first official Moto3 test of the year started the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia.

Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Miller posted a 1m40.355 for the second fastest lap on day one of three, 0.355s in arrears of fellow KTM rider Niccolo Antonelli.

“It was a good first day of testing,” Miller said. “The weather has not been very favourable for us, but we put in a few times which were good. We were second and the truth is that we are not so far from the top, so tomorrow we will fight for the best lap time.

“The feeling is a bit contrasting to what we had at Almeria last week, so the goal tomorrow will be to improve my front end feel. Also my riding, to try not to suffer another crash.”

Countryman Arthur Sissis was 14th fastest aboard the Mahindra, 1.639s off the front-running pace.

In Moto2 experienced Queenslander Anthony West was 13th overall as he returns for the QMMF Racing Team, his 1m37.371 lap 1.165 slower than fastest rider Mika Kallio.

Testing will continue tomorrow at the Ricardo Tormo circuit, in the second of three days of testing planned for this week.
