Motorcycling Australia (MA) has announced Peter Doyle as technical officer of the 2014 Australian Superbike Championship.

With supplementary regulations to be released next Wednesday, 19 February, MA president Stephen Foody has appologised for the series’ late organisation.

“Positive changes in 2014 include the appointment of Peter Doyle by Motorcycling Australia who will become the championship’s dedicated technical officer, guaranteeing fairness of competition across the championship,” Foody stated.

“Peter will also work alongside technical staff and commissions across all disciplines, improving relations with riders and manufacturers and being on the ground to help facilitate discussions about the future – an important factor for all competitors.

“We could not have hoped for a better person to fill this role considering his vast experience as a rider, team member and manager at grand prix, World Superbike and AMA Superbike championship level.”

Doyle, who was part of Mat Mladin’s Yoshimura Suzuki championship-winning team in the US, is looking forward to the next step in his decorated career.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to work with Motorcycling Australia and the competitors they represent, and I hope that my experience in motorcycle racing can be of benefit to the sport in the future,” Doyle said.

“After spending many years as a competitor, and working in the technical and management side of racing I look forward to being involved in racing from a different perspective.”

MA CEO David White has also since denied that the ASBK will reduce the previously announced specification of the premier Superbike category in 2014 despite informed sources indicating otherwise (click here for further details).

“”There has been no formal discussions, certainly that we are aware of where we’re at,” White told CycleOnline.com.au.
