Wakefield Park will today host an official pre-season test for the Swann Insurance Australasian Superbike Championship, headlined by Next Gen Motorsport BMW and the all-conquering Yamaha Racing Team.

Next Gen will feature two-time national champion Glenn Allerton on track aboard the HP4 alongside Ben Nicolson; Allerton fresh from a standout showing at last weekend’s Phillip Island World Superbike round.

YRT will complete its first official test with newcomer Robbie Bugden alongside Kevin Curtain (pictured) and Cru Halliday, while title threat Rick Olson is currently in Europe testing for the Monster Energy Yamaha Austria Racing Team.

The test marks Halliday’s anticipated return to the YZF-R1 following a year in Supersport and his first in the premier Superbike class fulltime on a national level.

Two of Australia’s brightest young talents will also appear on Hondas during the test, local Goulburn favourite Troy Herfoss and last year’s rookie Superbike standout Glenn Scott.

Team Honda Racing will be absent from the test following a bruising weekend at Phillip Island, however it’s understood they will plan to gain track time at the Formula Xtreme Club event on 9 March – a week prior to the ASC season opener on 14-16 March.

Ducati duo Beau Beaton and Craig McMartin are scheduled for the test, alongside a number of leading private entries including Sean Condon, Mike Jones, Ben Henry, Dustin Goldsmith, Phil Lovett, Chris Trounson, Brayden Carr, Glenn Cullen and more.

The Supersport field will also see a host of title contenders on hand, led by Aaron Morris, Aaron Gobert, Pat Medcalf, Callum Spriggs and Aiden Wagner.

Current Australian 250 Production Champion Brandon Demery will spearhead the Kawasaki Insurance-sponsored FX 300 Ninja Cup field, in the first major outing for the category since its inception this year.
