Australian duo Josh Waters and Josh Brookes made their respective 2014 debuts in British Superbike testing at Cartagena in Spain last week.

Brookes made his first laps aboard the Milwaukee Yamaha YZF-R1 across three days, while Waters’ Tyco Suzuki team completed four consecutive days alongside teammate John Hopkins.

“After such a long time off the bike over the winter it was good to have four days with the Tyco Suzuki boys and be back on a GSX-R1000 Superbike,” Waters said. “It’s a really strong team and I’ve already settled-in well and feel relaxed and confident.

“We made progress over the four days and it also gave me time to work with my new crew. I’ve also gelled really well with Hopper as a teammate and we had a lot of fun at Cartagena. The goal is to work together this season, which will only make both of us stronger.

“I’m now really looking forward to a positive second season in British Superbike with a great bunch of guys.”

Meanwhile, countryman Mitchell Carr’s Anvill Hire TAG Kawasaki team completed three days in a separate test at Jerez, also in Spain.

“I am totally stoked to be part of the Anvil Hire TAG Kawasaki team,” Carr said. “I was welcomed with open arms and couldn’t be happier. The TAG racing-prepared ZX10 was amazing straight away, allowing me sufficient time to adapt after only having limited time in the Superbike category.

“I am really looking forward to the season opener and becoming part of the BSB series. I am confident the team will provide me with every tool I need to succeed.”
