BikeBiz Racing Kawasaki’s Sean Condon believes he’ll bounce back potentially even stronger during tomorrow’s first Swann Insurance Australasian Superbike Championship round, despite major damage sustained in a late crash on Saturday.

Condon starred in the first FX-Superbike round on Saturday with third position in the opening two races, pressuring Glenn Scott and Glenn Allerton throughout, and fending off Australian Superbike Champion Wayne Maxwell in the process.

However race three saw Condon’s AFX-SBK round come to an early end when he crashed out of contention at Turn Four, just one lap before Allerton suffered the same fate in a dramatic conclusion to today’s racing.

“I’m more than confident I can come back even stronger tomorrow,” he told CycleOnline. “It was just my own stupid fault there, I know what I did wrong, so yeah, I’m definitely super-confident and know I can bounce back for Sunday.”

Condon spent Saturday aboard his ‘B’ bike before the crash, reverting to his favoured Kawasaki ZX-10R race bike ahead of the Swann Series opener on Sunday. His early season form has come as a huge confidence injection against the best in the country.

“It has exceeded my expectations a little bit,” he admitted. “I didn’t think we’d be consistently battling for the podium in the first two races, but I was hoping for something… you know, top eight.

“It was a little surprising, but I know I’ve got it in me. It was a confidence booster and I feel relaxed, so I should be on a stronger pace again tomorrow.”
