Team InsureMyRide Racing Honda rider Glenn Scott won the opening round of the 2014 YMF Loan Australian FX-Superbike Championship on Saturday.

Scott starred with victories in races two and three, after pushing race one winner Glenn Allerton (Next Gen Motorsports BMW) the entire way in a thrilling race to commence the season.

Allerton inched to the race one win by just 0.241s after 11 nail-biting laps, with him, Scott, Sean Condon (BikeBiz Racing Kawasaki) and Wayne Maxwell (Motul Honda) separated within the second.

Race two was just as tight as Scott held Allerton out for victory by just 0.318s, from Condon in third and Maxwell again less than a second in arrears for fourth.

The final race was the dramatic one, as both Condon and Allerton crashed out in the early laps at Turn Four to cause a red flag stoppage.

Upon restart Scott duked it out with Australian Superbike Champion Maxwell for the victory. It was Maxwell who crossed the line first, but eventually Scott credited the win a tenth of a second ahead in the two-part race.

Third was Troy Herfoss on the third of the factory Hondas, his fastest lap of the day at 58.793s – a new lap record – securing the pole position for tomorrow’s Swann Insurance Australasian Superbike Championship opener.

Overall it was Scott the victor from Maxwell and Jamie Stauffer (Team Honda Racing), while Allerton salvaged fourth by virtue of his earlier results.

In the Supersport class it was Aaron Morris (Maxima Yamaha) who won all three races, fending off Queensland combination Aiden Wagner (Wagner Soil Testing/YRD/XXX Rated Suspension Yamaha) and Callum Spriggs Allsite Concrete Cuting/Hydro Construction/YRD/XXX Rated Yamaha).

Australian Supersport Champion Daniel Falzon (Caterpillar EPSA Yamaha) finished fourth, from Aaron Gobert (Tapout Energy Wet4U Racing Kawasaki) who completed the top five.

The Kawasaki Insurances FX 300 Ninja Cup was topped by race one and two winner Brandon Demmery (Noise Guard Racing), with Kyle Buckley (BC Performance A1 Kawasaki) second and Kiwi guest Bailee Perriton (Fujitsu/ESPC Services) third.

Demmery, Buckley and Perriton were also the top finishers in the Under 21 sub-category. Top 250 in the production ranks was Benjamin Green, with Sophie Lovett leading the ladies home.

Formula Oz was won by Scott, who’s pulling double duty in 2014, sweeping all three races from Jed Metcher (Race Centre Kawasaki) and veteran Phil Lovett (Cessnock Motor Cycles Kawasaki).

Angus Reekie (KTM Racing) won the Nakedbike class, while multiple-time national champion Craig McMartin (Ducati) topped the Pro-Twins.
