South Australian Arthur Sissis disastrous beginning to the 2014 Moto3 World Championship continued at Jerez in Spain on Sunday, yet to open his points account since switching to Mahindra Racing.

Sissis suffered transmission troubles on the Indian-built MGP3O in the Jerez – which the team says could have come from an overheated clutch – which dashed his hopes of a point-scoring position.

Prior to the race Sissis had experienced another frustrating weekend, qualifying a lowly 25th and 2.040s off the pole position time of countryman Jack Miller on his former Red Bull KTM Ajo squad.

“This morning’s warm-up was good and also the warm-up lap,” Sissis said. “I had no problems and I made a good start, going outside four riders into the first corner. But at the second I couldn’t
down-shift properly.

“The problem persisted – I was last and losing time, so I went into the pits. I hope my luck will change soon.”

Sissis was ruled out of Qatar with tonsillitis and was taken out on the opening lap at Circuit of the Americas. His lone finish of the season came in Argentina, where he raced to 22nd.
