Adelaide’s Hudson Pitt has made the switch to Yamaha ahead of the second round of the 2014 Swann Insurance Australasian Superbike Championship at Mallala Motorsport Park in South Australia.

Pitt, 18, will make his debut appearance in the Formula Oz category this weekend following a successful recent test aboard the YZF-R6 at Mallala.

“The switch to the Yamaha R6 was rather easy,” Pitt said. “I really like the way the bike handles and the huge amount of low down power, overall I think the bike has a lot of potential to be fast and is already great as a standard bike.

“We will make some further setup advancements with it before the race meeting and we should be in a good position to challenge towards the front of the field.

“Our testing was a success at Mallala and we now have a solid grounding for a good race weekend. We worked hard on every aspect of the bike to find any issues that may arise and look for a suitable solution before Friday.

“I’m really feeling confident of a good result at my home track in front of what should be a good crowd.”

The event will be the first of its type at the northern Adelaide circuit in five years and Pitt is hopeful to bring home a good result in front of his home crowd.

“It’s really good to see a national level Superbike event back Mallala after such a long time,” he added. “It’s a really good track that features so many different corners and challenging aspects including a few heavy braking points.

“It will certainly test some of the interstate riders that haven’t been here before and I’m really hoping that my local track knowledge will help me to score a good result.”

Round two of the 2014 Swann Series takes place at Mallala Motorsport Park from 16-18 May.
