Swann Insurance Australasian Supersport Championship leader Callum Spriggs extended his advantage with a second consecutive victory at Mallala on Sunday.

Spriggs backed up his breakthrough win at Wakefield Park with a win in the opening heat, before second in race two clinched him the overall. Race three was declared prematurely after multiple red flag incidents.

It’s a strong sign for Spriggs entering the Queensland Raceway round in June, setting him up for a strong title bid in the season’s first half.

“I’m really happy with how I performed throughout the weekend,” Spriggs said. “I’m especially excited to have held onto my lead in the Swann Series and it’s something I’ll be hoping to continue at Queensland Raceway.

“It was a great battle throughout the weekend with my main rivals and it certainly kept me busy every time we were on the track. I feel we made some good advancements in set up and I think I have really improved my starts, which is going to help me moving forward in the series.

“I have to send a special thanks to Tim from Just Conditioning for helping me with my own physical preparation, six races across two days can be very demanding. The next round will be a big one at my home track and it will be tough but I feel I am up to the challenge.”

Spriggs holds down a seven-point buffer entering round three of the 2014 Swann Series at Queensland Raceway from 27-29 June.
