QMMF Racing Team’s Alex Cudlin raced to his fourth consecutive Qatar Superbike Championship in Doha over the weekend as the title went down to the wire under lights at the Losail Circuit.

Cudlin remains unbeaten in the championship held exclusively at the Losail Circuit, winning on debut in 2011 and defending it through the 2012, 2013 and 2014 seasons.

Victory in the opening encounter was enough to secure the title for Cudlin, who was then unfortunately forced out of the second race when the chain snapped on board his QMMF Racing ZX-10R.

“I won my fourth title in a row, so really, really happy about that,” Cudlin commented. “It was a pretty crazy day actually. The first race I managed to win, which sealed the championship. My main competitor didn’t make the start after he had an engine problem.

“It’s fantastic to win a fourth title in a row. In race two there was no pressure, everything was done, but I wanted to win the final race of the year. I was leading the race and with three laps to go the chain snapped, putting me out of the race.

“It’s been a really, really good year – I’ve finished first or second in every race I’ve taken part in, except for the two races I DNF’d due to mechanical problems.”

In the championship standings, Cudlin won the title with 280 points over Nasser Al Malki, who finished second with 229. The third position was taken out by Mishal Al Naimi.

Cudlin will now turn his attention back to the FIM Endurance World Championship, with his next appearance scheduled for round three in the 8 Hours of Oschersleben in Germany on 23 August.
