Bryan Staring’s point-scoring performance in the Sepang round of the 2014 eni FIM Superbike World Championship has delighted Grillini Racing Team owner Andrea Grillini.

Staring rode the privateer Kawasaki ZX-10R to 13-16 results in his first official appearance with the team, replacing ousted Italian Michel Fabrizio just five rounds into the season.

Still recovering from a broken elbow sustained in a bicycle incident once confirmed for the Grillini position, Staring initial form indicates a strong opportunity to assert himself as a WSBK regular.

“I’m really happy with how it ended this weekend,” Grillini said. “Despite the heat stifling our riders have behaved perfectly, both their best. Staring got to know the bike and the fact that it is already as fast as [Morais] gives thanks to the efforts of the team and it bodes well for the future.”

Within the EVO ranks Staring was fifth in race one and two, narrowly edging out South Afrrican teammate Sheridan Morais in the second outing.
