It was an almost near perfect day for Brandon Demmery (Noise Guard Racing/Zenith Removals/RST/Pirelli) in the Ninja FX 300 class after he won three today producing a 2-1-1 result in a masterful display.

“What a day! We feel really good and are ready for a big day tomorrow,” Demmery said. “Hopefully we take three wins tomorrow which would be good for the championship. Big thanks to the whole team and everyone else that made this all happen.”

Local Queenslander, Jack Baker finished second with a run of 3-2-2. But the standout ride for the day without doubt went to Sophie Lovett (Lovetts Earthmoving/Kawasaki/Ricondi/Shark/Held) in third place.

“Everything was working well out there!” Lovett said. “Now I just have to find some ‘guts’ out there and brake a bit later tomorrow.

“I’m a bit concerned because I normally have bad Saturday’s and good Sunday, so to have a good Saturday, hopefully I will have a good Sunday.”

Bailie Perriton and Di Jones (BC Performance A1 Kawasaki) rounded out the top five results.

Jones’s teammate and pole man Kyle Buckley looked as if he was going to run away with the day after he stormed to victory with a 5.842s win over Demmery in the first race came unstuck in race two when he crashed. The end result was a dislocated shoulder.

“I got a good start and got into a good rhythm,” explained Buckley. “I had a few little front end slides in turn two. I backed it off a bit but unfortunately the same thing happened in turn one the next lap and had a fast crash.

“I was lucky to get away with only a dislocated shoulder.” Buckley will hope for the clearance to race tomorrow.”

Grant Jordan (Jordan Bros Racing) took out the FX 250 class with Joshua McHenry (Tricomms National/Xtech) and Craig White joining him on the podium.

Following his success from pole position, Dynotech Pirelli BMW’s Ben Nicolson converted his pole into a round win by scoring a 1-2-3 to beat Mathew Harding (K&R Hydraulics/Kawasaki Connection) who finished six points down on Nicolson after composing a 4-1-4 finish which now sees him leading the championship on a count back, tied on 168 points with Phil Lovett.

To make it an even sweeter day for Nicolson, he posted the fastest lap in race two on lap four which was a 1m10.018 which was good enough to claim pole for tomorrow’s Swann Insurance Australasian Superbike Championship round.

“Today was reasonably good,” said Nicolson. “We managed to score the round win which is good but my attention is now on tomorrow.

“Hopefully we can keep the momentum going and score some good results,” added the Victorian who now sits in third in the championship with 146 points on the board.

Rounding out the top three was New Zealander Alistair Hoogenboezem piloting the all new LMR (Linden Magee Racing) BMW S 1000RR.

Fourth was Brayden Carr (Fastway Couriers/Carr Bros Motorsports) just one point behind Hoogenboezem with Lovett rounding out the top five.

Another top 10 finish went to Liam Wilkinson on the Aprilia RSV4 finishing in sixth who is getting better and better each time he hops on the Italian bike.

LTR Honda’s Paul Byrne was running strong all day, finishing rounding up a second and third before chucking the Honda CBR1000RR away in the bushes in the final race.

Craig McMartin (Racers Edge/Motul/RK) stood tall after running away with the show in the Pro-Twins class winning all three races from Michael McMillan (Millan Criminal Law) and James Arnold.

Angus Reekie took out the Naked bike class on his KTM Super Duke R.
