Yamaha Racing Team rider Robbie Bugden was happy with his third place finish at the fourth round of the 2014 YMF-Loan Australian FX-Superbike Championship, but said there is plenty more in store for tomorrow.

Bugden impressed to finish fourth and third from his two races on the day, and that included a tight battle with eventual round winner Troy Herfoss (Team Honda Racing) in the second race.

Speaking after the day’s racing had finished, Bugden said it was unfortunate that the final race of the day could not be run, but is confident in the set-up he will be carrying into tomorrow.

“It definitely wasn’t the finish that I was after – that was for sure, but my R1 is going good,” he said.

“I think in the second race we made a good improvement, and we may have just had an improvement on that in the third race but unfortunately we didn’t get too far around.

“So it wasn’t an ideal way to finish but I think we are in a pretty good position starting out in third tomorrow so we will see if we can get the thing rolling and get the right to the front.”

Bugden agreed that the battle with Herfoss in the second race was good, hard and fair racing.

“It was a lot of fun battling with Troy today. I know that Troy likes to race pretty hard and that’s cool because so do I, so that was good.

“It was a good race and unfortunately he had the better of me and had a little bit more speed, but we’re definitely making improvements with the Yamaha, and like I said I think we even made a little bit more of an improvement with that last one but we didn’t really get to see that.”

“We’ll come out tomorrow, we’ll come out swinging and we will see if we can get this thing right out the front.”
