A return to race-winning form will be vital for Moto3 World Championship leader Jack Miller as the 2014 championship tightens up following a sixth position at Silverstone.

Miller opened the season with a bang and two race wins at Losail and COTA to his credit, before winning again in France and Germany. However fifth at Brno and sixth in the British GP has enabled Alex Marquez to narrow the gap in the world title chase.

The start of the race saw Miller gain two positions in the first corner to place himself fifth and he fought among the lead group until five laps remained, after the head group split and four riders moved ahead to contend for the podium. He eventually crossed the stripe sixth.

“I wanted to stay in the first group throughout the race, but some other riders made mistake which caused us to lose a lot of distance from the front,” Miller explained. “We had the pace and we were there lap after lap, but in the end couldn’t manage it.

“We suffered a bit this weekend, both with my riding as well as with set-up. Now we have to get back on a positive trend and focus and on the next grands prix, which will be in Misano and Aragon.”

Miller has been working to restore confidence during the second half of the season, aiming to improve his feedback in a bid to refine his race setting.

“I think one of the main problems we’ve had has been with the bumps,” he added. “We have to look at what we did well, and then do it again. Maybe I have also to communicate better with my team, to describe problems better to get more time during the weekend.”

With only six races left, Miller leads the Moto3 overall by 13 points entering Misano in San Marino on 12-14 September.
