Team Honda Racing’s Troy Herfoss will start from pole position in Sunday’s fifth round of the 2014 Swann Insurance Australasian Superbike Championship at Wakefield Park in Goulburn.

The hometown hero was the form rider across much of Saturday’s FX-Superbike proceedings, ultimately securing the Sunday pole position with a record-breaking 58.047s lap on board the CBR1000RR SP.

Herfoss edged out Motul Honda stablemate and series leader Wayne Maxwell’s 58.072s lap in the third and final race of today, while opening round and today’s Wakefield Park winner Jamie Stauffer made it a Honda 1-2-3 in third. Next Gen Motorsport BMW’s Glenn Allerton completes the front row.

The second row will be headed by Crazy Dogs Kawasaki privateer Mike Jones, who overcame a heavy crash on Friday to claim fifth. He will start ahead of Josh Hook (Team Honda Racing), Robbie Bugden (YRT with YMI) and Glenn Scott (Honda).

In Supersport it was Saturday winner Aiden Wagner (Wagner Soil Testing Yamaha) who posted the fastest lap across the three races, from Aaron Morris (Maxima Yamaha), who was able to salvage second on the Sunday grid despite a disastrous trio of races. Callum Spriggs (Yamaha) and Jay Presepio (Yamaha) complete the front row.

Other pole-setters for Sunday will be Paul Byrne (Formula Oz), Rennie Scaysbrook (FX 300 Ninja Cup), James Arnold (Pro-Twins), Adrian Pierpoint (Nakedbikes) and Danny Pottage (eFXC).
