Australian Max Croker has withdrawn from his Moto2 World Championship wildcard scheduled for Phillip Island on 17-19 October.

Croker, who is an all-round racer in multiple disciplines, has been forced out after losing a major supporter in the lead-up to the event.

“My team and I are shattered that we have had to withdraw,” Croker said. “We have had a major contributor pull out at the last minute and left us financially unable to cover the costs at this late stage.

“Not to be deterred I will be back stronger, faster and more experienced for next year as a 17-year-old. We would like to thank our sponsors, Stramac Lighting, Thornton Subway, Cutting Edge Paint shop, Gold N Tint, NZI Helmets, Smarter Fitness and Instant Cash for their ongoing support.

“Throughout our journey we have so many people that have aided and supported us with coaching, advice, accommodation and discounted goods and services that they are too numerous to mention but they know who they are and we thank them enormously.

“Thanks to Motorcycling Australia and Motorcycling NSW for their ongoing support for which we are grateful. Also we Thank IRTA and the FIM for the opportunity to ride in the Australian round of the Moto2 World Championship.”

The announcement leaves Australian Supersport front-runner Aiden Wagner as the lone Moto2 wildcard for the 2014 running. Remy Gardner and Olly Simpson will headline the Moto3 wildcards.
