Motorcycling Australia (MA) today announced the 2015 Australian Superbike Championship host clubs.

The following MA-affiliated clubs will take on the role as the ASBK host clubs in their states for the Australian Superbike Championship in 2015.

2015 ASBK host clubs:
Round two – Motorcycle Sportsmen of QLD
Round three – Motorcycle Racing Club of WA
Round four – Tasmanian Motorcycle Club
Round five – Hartwell Motorcycle Club

These clubs all share a common desire to assist MA in producing a strong ASBK championship focused on the key elements of Stability, Consistency, Safety and Fairness for all competitors.

In addition, MA is extremely pleased to have a strong working relationship with the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit for round one at the Australian round of the World Superbike Championship next February.

MA president Braxton Laine is confident this model of the ASBK championship will grow road racing in Australia.

“Growing our sport requires many stakeholders and working with the State Controlling Bodies and clubs is vital to encouraging participation,” Laine said.

“For many club riders this format will provide the direct link to the Australian Superbike Championship and will allow them to showcase their talents to a wider audience.

“As we have stated in the past, we are working on the big picture, that being our commitment to a truly national Australian Superbike Championship for all MA licensed road race competitors.”

Paul Dawson, Motorcycle Sportsmen of QLD president, said his club is looking forward to hosting round two of the championship in April next year.

“The Motorcycle Sportsmen of QLD are excited to be a part of the new Australian Superbike Championship,” Dawson said. “We feel that the new ASBK Management team and a return to the club based model will provide a renewed interest in the series and greater value for the competitors.”

Dawson said clubs hosting an Australian championship round will bring great benefits to both local riders and officials.

“Getting the clubs involved better defines the progression from club and state level racing to national championship events, the clubs are the breeding ground for the sport and a strong national championship gives competitors the impetus to progress their riding to that next level.

“The club based model will also help the clubs improve by allowing more officials to gain experience at a higher level, which will be invaluable at club events.”

An exciting new development for the 2015 Australian Superbike Championship will be the inclusion of the Club Challenge races.

At rounds 2–5 each of the host clubs receive the chance to select a local class that is popular at their club and state championships to compete at their respective ASBK round. This provides a thrilling opportunity for club and state level riders to race at national level alongside the factory stars of the ASBK.

This is just another element of MA’s commitment to a truly national Australian Superbike Championship for all levels of MA licensed road racers.

Competitors are strongly encouraged to contact each host club for upcoming events and information on racing at their club and state championship events. This provides highly valuable track time on the circuits of the 2015 championship.
