Race Center has confirmed that the Superbike World Championship wildcard entry of Jed Metcher has secured major sponsorship from Sydney-based structural and strip out company Demolition Plus for the Phillip Island event on 20-22 February.

Competing without manufacturer support on board a Kawasaki, dubbed the ‘RC-10’, with 2011 Superstock 600 FIM Cup winner Jed Metcher at the helm, Race Center has had a positive build-up to the season-opening WSBK round.

The partnership between Demolition Plus and Race Center sees former 2006 Australian Superstock 600 foes Richard Parry and Darren Sciberras pair up in their support of Metcher. Both are equally proud to support Metcher in the exciting venture.

Demolition Plus managing director Richard Parry stated: “We’re delighted to support an Aussie rider and an Aussie team on their assault of the first round of the World Superbike Championship at Phillip Island. I know they will do us all proud.”

Race Center’s technical chief Darren Sciberras said: “Our project is really the cliché David and Goliath battle. Yet we are not scared of the challenge ahead and we are wrapped to be representing Australia and local engineering as many of our parts are made right here in Australia.

“Having Demolition Plus on board gives us the backing and strength we need to perform at our best. These days it’s common place to see Australian engineering in decline, but stuff that – we are going to have a crack the good old Aussie way, so it’s awesome to have a company developed from the ground up beside us in Demolition Plus.

“My only fear come February 20-22nd is that I hope we as a team can do our rider justice. We have known Jed for a very long time and know what a special rider he is. The team is very committed to giving Jed a competitive package, but I equally understand how hard it is to compete in this field.

“Our rider is capable for sure and his talent has always made our bikes look good, so we feel very fortunate to have him on board the Demolition Plus Race Center RC-10.”

Jed Metcher: ”I had the chance to meet Richard back in 2010 when I was first learning the ropes in the German Superbike series. At that point Richard and Demolition Plus were also assisting Aussie talent in Australia and abroad.

“His genuine passion for the sport and young Aussies was amazing to see, which is why I am incredibly proud to represent Demolition Plus as a proud supporter of myself and Race Center!”

Demolition Plus has long been a supporter of Australian motorcycling talent, assisting other high profile riders such as Wayne Maxwell and Craig Coxhell in the past.
