A huge media event this week at Sydney Motorsport Park with over 100 journalists from all over the world invited. The reason for the interest is the hotly anticipated world launch of Yamaha’s ground breaking new YZF-R1.

You can be a fly on the wall at this event by registering for more information.

The 2015 YZF-R1 is developed for the track and blurs the line between production superbikes and MotoGP race machinery. Valentino Rossi assisted in developing the 200bhp inline four which is “just like my race bike but with lights and a number plate”.

A host of never-seen-before control technologies puts the power down to the ground in a way that re-invents the supersport category. Wrapped in an all new lightweight chassis, the media are lining up to see if the new bike and its YZF- R1M special edition version live up to the hype.

Technology developed from the blue and white world of MotoGP racing has filtered directly into this new YZF-R1, and the entire development team is heading to Australia to reveal their input with unrivalled passion.

The press event starts on 19 February and runs through to 27 February. Yamaha Motor Australia staff will be reporting trackside to bring you a unique insight into the new model with feedback from journalists, engineers, project development staff and racers.

If you wish to receive regular YZF-R1 updates, register your details here. Yamaha will then send you information from the press test as well as links to videos illustrating the design and development of this category leading model.
