Australian Josh Waters has completed his first test alongside teammate Christian Iddon with the Halsall Suzuki team at Cartagena, Spain, on Sunday, concluding a positive shakedown before heading to Guadix this week for further testing.

The newly-formed team, guided by experienced team manager Jack Valentine, continued to get a better understanding of the GSX-R1000’s capabilities during the four-day test as the pair worked on finding a good base setting and building their pace ahead of the 2015 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship season.

“We had some teething problems during the test at Cartagena, which happens during testing sometimes, but we have that fixed now so this test had been good to get that out of the way,” Waters said.

“By the end of the final day we have been able to do some good laps and finish up with a setting that we can work on now when we get to Guadix. I am lucky as I have ridden Suzukis before that I had some ideas and information on where we could start with the new bike and that has helped too, combined with the knowledge the team already have.

“I am looking forward to Guadix now as we have three days there against some of our competition again to know how we shape up once everyone has had the few days under their belts. I am looking forward to it though and I feel happy with what we have done as a team so far.”

Halsall Suzuki’s test program is just part of the rapid pre-season schedule currently taking place in Spain, with the majority of teams due to carry out testing this week in the lead-up to the 4-5 April season-opener at Dontington Park in the UK.
