MotoGP team to benefit from upgraded technology this year.
Yamaha has officially announced that the factory MotoGP team will be using a full seamless shift gearbox for the 2015 season at a press conference in Japan.
During the conference, Yamaha Motor Co. Ltd. vice president Takaaki Kimura confirmed the use of the full seamless gearbox on the YZR-M1 for the 2015 MotoGP Championship.
“During the second Sepang test, we were able to confirm the performance of our seamless gearbox”, commented Kimura. “However, we must keep on developing the chassis and electronics to utilise it to its full potential.
“We will continue to work on the setup at the upcoming test in Qatar, while aiming for the victory at the first round of the 2015 season in Qatar later this month.”
While developing the 2015 YZR-M1, Yamaha focused on further technical upgrades such as a full seamless shift (both upshift and downshift), which is the core technology for improvements in braking.
