Round one of the Australasian Superbike Championship will be held this weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park and Team Honda Racing is poised for action.

In 2014 the Honda team dominated the Superbike category for much of the season culminating in a spectacular 1-2-3, 5 finish. It was one of the most successful seasons for Team Honda Racing to date and one not easily topped.

2015 sees Team Honda Racing fielding two of the best riders in the country, #27 Jamie Stauffer and #17 Troy Herfoss and both have their own motivation to take on the challenge for the title this season.

In an unfortunate turn of events for Stauffer however, his season has been placed on hold as he awaits clearance to race. The NSW rider has recovered well from his injury at the World Superbike event, but must clear a blood clot before he can take to the track again.

Hungry for the title, Stauffer will attend round one this weekend to support the team and glean any and all information on the bike and indeed his opponents before re-joining the team for round two.

Taking Stauffer’s place at Sydney Motorsport Park will be 2014 Supersport Champion, Aiden Wagner who could not be more excited.

“I am really looking forward to getting out on track tomorrow for practice on the CBR1000RR SP,” Wagner said. “It is definitely going to be a full on weekend for me in the Superbike category, but team has already been supportive and I just can’t wait to see what we can achieve.”

#17 Troy Herfoss has already logged some extensive practice on the CBR1000RR SP since the World Superbike event and says he is very comfortable on the Honda heading into round one at Sydney.

“I have attended a few ride days and done quite a bit of testing and practice on the CBR1000RR SP and I have to say I feel really good with our starting point this season,” Herfoss explained. “The bike is where I need it to be in terms of set-up to start this weekend so I can’t wait to put it under race conditions again and see what we can do.”
