Motorcycling Australia (MA) has announced that Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki have committed significant support to the 2015 Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK).

All three major manufacturers have shown they are behind the series, with a range of contributions being made to support its’ future success.

The news comes on top of announcements recently confirming the support of Yamaha Motor Finance (YMF), Yamaha Motorcycle Insurance (YMI), Motul and Pirelli.

Speaking about the decision to throw its weight behind the series, Yamaha motorsport manager Ray Howard said Yamaha are well and truly behind what is being done with the ASBK series.

“We haven’t had a presence with our factory race team for a while in the ASBK, but we haven’t stopped supporting the championship,” Howard said. “We always have been there, and this support is a continuation of the support we have always wanted to give.

“We see this series as the future and we have definitely seen a huge increase in commitment to making this the series that it should be from the new hierarchy at MA, so we have been impressed with that.

“In being impressed with it we have decided to put extra support into it with the hope that it continues to grow and grow.”

Suzuki national marketing manager of motorcycles Lewis Croft also noted that the MA series is on the right path with a clear vision and structure set up to ensure success.

“Having a stable and productive series, which MA certainly looks like it has set up to run, gives the riders somewhere to go and ride in a safe and competitive environment.

“We think that what MA is doing is fantastic. We have me with the organisers, we have spoken to them and while there is a lot to do, with Dale Gilson, Braxton Laine, Peter Doyle and Simon Maas on board, the future is looking very good.

“If the series can help generate and expose our range of motorcycles, then it is a great thing for us from a brand point of view, and with arrangements such as the television deal in place this can definitely happen.”

Round two of the ASBK series will take place at Morgan Park in Queensland on 10-12 April.
