Each round of the 2015 Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul and Pirelli, will feature a Come and Try area for kids, using Suzuki, Yamaha and Honda motorcycles.

On both the Saturday and Sunday of each round at the 2015 championship, kids will be able to have a free ride between 10:00am and 4:00pm at a special area at the race track.

The initiative supported by the manufacturers will be run by the host club in conjunction with Motorcycling Australia and is designed to give kids who are at the track a taste of what it is like on board a bike.

Full safety gear and bikes will be provided, as well as a free day licence so that the kids can have a go in a safe and controlled environment.

Speaking about the initiative, MA high performance manager Bronwyn Sorensen said that MA is always looking for ways to introduce new riders to the sport and to teach kids the importance of safety while riding.

“We have always been committed to bringing new people into the sport, especially kids, and the benefits of programs like this is that they get to try it out in a safe and controlled environment,” she said.

“We make sure they have the right safety gear, equipment, that accredited officials and first aid officers are on hand, so they can get a feel for riding under the right kind of supervision. Whether or not they take up the sport, ride at club, state or national level, or go on to become a World Champion, this is where is all starts for the next generation of riders.”

Round two of the ASBK series will take place this weekend at Morgan Park Raceway in Queensland, 10-12 April.
