Noise Guard Racing/Erebus/Zenith Removals Yamaha rider Brandon Demmery will sit out round two of the Australasian Supersport Championship, after suffering a broken left trapezoid and minor ligament damage in an Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) crash at Sepang last month.

Demmery, 17, came off at turn six during qualifying after catching a bump, which caused him to lose the rear-end of his Production-based YZF-R25.

“It was only a small little crash, but I must have caught my hand on something when I went down,” explained the reigning FX-300 Ninja Cup Champion.

The trapezoid is the smallest bone in your hand, which is causing Demmery quite a bit if pain. For the next four weeks he will have to wear a cast, but plans are in place for him to return for round three at Sydney Motorsport Park in June.

“It’s a shame we can’t race at Mallala, as it’s a track that I enjoy,” he continued. “I’m sorry to all of our team sponsors who are backing us this year, but we’ll be back for round three, that’s for sure.”

Demmery made his FX-ASC Supersport debut at Sydney Motorsport Park’s opening round riding a YZF-R6, which saw him finish in 17th place in both the FX and ASC series.
