Reigning series champion Wayne Maxwell claimed his first round win of the 2015 Australian FX-Superbike Championship at Mallala today, in a first for the all-new YZF-R1M.

The Yamaha Racing Team with Yamaha Motorcycle Insurance rider went 1-2-3 for the overall on Saturday, which seals him pole position for Sunday’s Australasian Superbike round.

Second overall was returning Team Honda Racing rider Jamie Stauffer with 2-1-4 scorecard, placing him two points behind Maxwell for today’s activity and five points ahead of teammate Troy Herfoss, who went 3-4-2.

It was a strong day for Cube Racing Kawasaki rider Mike Jones in fourth overall after picking up the final race win, while Glenn Allerton completed the top five.

Sixth overall was second of the ZX-10Rs in the field, Sean Condon, from Cru Halliday on the third factory Yamaha R1M after he was hampered by arm-pump on Saturday.

Rounding out the top 10 in the 13-rider field was Ben Burke, Matthew Walters and Linden Magee. The grids for Sunday will reflect today’s overall results.
