Sixth overall another strong finish for Josh McHenry.

Josh McHenry Racing press release:

Victorian Josh McHenry has finished sixth overall in the Production category as part of round three of the Australian Superbike Championship at Barbagallo Raceway in Western Australia, helping him to retain his top five Championship position in the class ahead of the remaining two rounds in the series.

Friday’s three practice sessions saw Josh record the ninth fastest time in the category with a 1:12.498, while a subsequent improvement in the first of two qualifying sessions on Friday morning delivered McHenry the seventh fastest time in the first qualifying session with a 1:11.665.

Josh’s time in the second qualifying session, a 1:11.536 placed him in fifth, with combined times affirming him in seventh for the first of three races.

On the back of two qualifying sessions on Saturday, Josh managed to secure tenth in race to conclude a busy program before progressing to sixth in race two of the weekend and the first on Sunday.

A consistent performance saw McHenry claim sixth in the third and final race of the weekend, thus securing sixth for the round and cementing himself in fifth in the series standings.

Josh McHenry: “The weekend was tough, with the locals being so fast I knew that I just wanted to bring in points for the Championship and work towards achieving a consistent string of results. I was happy with our progress on Friday, with minor changes to the bike I was confident for a good performance throughout the weekend. Barbagallo Raceway is one of the best tracks in Australia by far, every corner was fun and challenging, you could push harder and harder into the corners each and every lap. I am happy with our overall result for the weekend, although I wanted to be closer to the front, it is a long Championship and anything is possible. I would just like to thank Mum and Dad for everything that they do for my racing and for putting in everything for my racing, especially travelling all the way over to Perth. Also a massive thank you to Peter Stevens Motorcycles Geelong for their support.”

Round four of the 2015 Australian Superbike Championship takes place at Symmons Plains Raceway, Tasmania, from 4-6 September.
