Elliott chasing second bout of Sydney success to retain Supersport lead

Australasian Supersport standout aims to stretch advantage.

Brayden Elliott Racing press release:

Tumut rider Brayden Elliott is looking for a return to the success he achieved at the opening round of the 2015 Swann Insurance Australasian Superbike Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park with the series’ second visit of three for this year set to take place this weekend with Elliott also looking to extend his championship lead that he has built over the opening two events.

An overall round win in Sydney in round one and a podium at round two at Mallala has helped Brayden to open up a slender eight point series lead. With his personal experience around the 3.93km track, the Hankook Tyres Suzuki GSX-R 600 rider is confident of being able to deliver another big result.

“I’m really looking forward to round three of the Swann Insurance Australasian Superbike Championship this weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park. Entering this round as the current Supersport Championship leader gives me a great feeling which I think adds to my confidence at a circuit I know quite well,” Elliott said.

With Sydney Motorsport Park being a circuit that features a variety of challenges including a large variation of corners and heavy braking areas, an outright fast setup is critical and its something Brayden, along with rider coach and Australian Superbike legend, Shawn Giles have worked on achieving at every opportunity.

“During round one of the Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park we were able to get a good set up on the Hankook Tyres Suzuki GSX-R600. The combination of the Suzuki and Dunlop tyres felt great,
especially at this circuit, although there is still room for improvement and I look forward to the challenge as I aim to continue learning and moving forward with the team,” Elliott added.

This weekend’s event will feature yet another busy schedule for Brayden, headlined by three six lap sprint races on both Saturday and Sunday therefore requiring him to be on top of his game with the level of competition and intensity steadily rising as each round takes place.

“I’m really happy with how the preparations have gone in the build up to this round, I have been able to focus heavily on fitness also preparing the bikes extensively to ensure they are performing at their best. As always I’m sure the competition will be very tough although I will continue to focus on myself and the team taking it race by race and give it my best possible effort,” Elliott concluded.

Brayden will be on track for practice and qualifying on Friday with three races each on Saturday and Sunday. Brayden’s next event is round three of the 2015 Swann Insurance Australasian Superbike Championship which takes place at Sydney Motorsport Park, Eastern Creek, NSW from 26-28 June.
