Yamaha Racing Team with Yamaha Motorcycle Insurance’s Cru Halliday has claimed his second Australian FX-Superbike Championship pole position of the season, at Sydney Motorsport Park’s third stop of the 2015 series.

Halliday repeated his pole from Sydney’s opener with a 1m31.156s lap time to edge out YRT with YMI teammate Wayne Maxwell and current points leader Troy Herfoss (Team Honda Racing).

The top eight riders were all within the same second on Friday afternoon, with Sean Condon (Bikebiz Kawasaki), Mike Jones (Cube Racing Kawasaki), Jamie Stauffer (Team Honda Racing), Glenn Allerton (YRT with YMI) and Matthew Walters (Kawasaki Connection) filling positions 4-8.

Ninth was Ben Burke (SA Kawasaki Bcperformance), the first of the riders outside the 1m31s bracket, while Beau Beaton (McMartin Racing/Racer’s Edge Performance/North Coast V-Twins Ducati) rounded out the top 10 in his debut aboard the 1299 Panigale.

In Supersport it was Troy Guenther who slotted his Kawasaki ZX-6R onto pole position with a 1m33.977s lap, leading Michael Blair, Brayden Elliott, Callum Spriggs and Mitch Levy in the talent-stacked 600cc division.

Other riders to capture pole position this afternoon included Ben Henry (Formula Oz) and Paul Young (FX300 Ninja Cup), Angus Reekie (Nakedbikes), Craig McMartin (Pro-Twins), Glenn Birchall (Formula Xtreme) and Danny Pottage (eFXC).
