Team Yamaha MGM was represented by Damian Cudlin during the fifth round of the 2015 IDM Superbike Championship, but his weekend at the Hungaroring ended early due to an unfortunate crash.

Following a promising start to the weekend, Cudlin was fourth in free practice and again circulated in that same position during qualifying until a damaging crash ruled him out of the weekend’s remainder.

“Obviously it’s really disappointing, because we made a step overnight and the bike felt really good Saturday morning, but I crashed in the second lap of the first qualifying,” he explained. “Actually it wasn’t a big crazy crash, but my arm got caught on one of the curbs, which are bigger than normal for the cars that race here, and this did some damage to my shoulder.

“I was in the hospital and they said I need surgery, so I will go to a specialist in Germany and check from there what I can do. All I can hope is that I can repair this rapidly, so I can return as soon as possible, because the team needs it. We are in a really unlucky situation, but this is a part of racing sometimes. Like always we will try to find the best and quickest solution, so I can come back as early as possible.”

After a brief visit to the medical center, Cudlin went to Budapest to have a check up in the hospital, where it was found he had injured his rotator cuff in his left shoulder.
