Aitchison takes a pair of sixth place Supersport finishes.
Japanese duo Yuki Ito and Yuki Takahashi have claimed race victories in Sunday’s third round of the 2015 Asia Road Racing Championship at the iconic Suzuka Circuit in Japan.
Ito blitzed the field in wet conditions by around seven seconds in race one, winning ahead of Tomoyoshi Koyama and WorldSBK legend Noriyuki Haga, while Mark Aitchison was top of the Aussies in a solid sixth.
Race two was contested in better conditions and it was ex-Moto2 regular Takahashi who stormed to the victory, ahead of the consistent Koyama and Ito. Aitchison was again sixth, boosting him to 10th in the standings.
Other Aussies in the field were further down the order, with Michael Blair logging a promising 12-16 scorecard and Callum Spriggs going 17-21 in the two races. Aaron Morris was unable to make the round due to financial restraints, but plans to return later in the season.
It was a difficult weekend for Aussie Brandon Demmery in the 250 Production ranks, the Yamaha-mounted rider finishing 24th in the opening encounter before crossing the line 28th in race two.
