Top British website bikesportnews.com has revealed Australia’s Josh Brookes will contest the Assen, Netherlands, round of the IDM Superbike Championship on 7-9 August.

It was initially anticipated that Brookes would be joined by young American talent Cameron Beaubier for the round, however a clash with the Indianapolis round of MotoAmerica dashed those plans.

Instead, Superstock 1000 FIM Cup front-runner Kev Coghlan will join Brookes in replacing injured Team Yamaha MGM riders Max Neukirchner and Aussie Damian Cudlin.

“The MGM team have two riders out injured and Yamaha want to keep the momentum going with the current R1 and asked us to release Josh,” Milwaukee Yamaha boss told bikesportnews.com.

“We have said yes because it will be good preparation for us before the Assen round of the Showdown. Josh will ride their bike, but have the YME development team there along with one of Josh’s own guys from here.”

The British Superbike Championship will head to Assen as part of the title-deciding Showdown period on 18-20 September. Brookes is currently second in the standings after a double win at Brands Hatch on Sunday.
