Jones chasing home track success at Queensland Raceway

Brisbane local has home track advantage at Queensland Raceway this weekend.

Mike Jones Racing press release:

Brisbane’s Mike Jones will be looking to use his home track advantage at Queensland Raceway this weekend as an opportunity to boost his position in the points order for the Swann Insurance Australasian Superbike Championship at a significant point in the series with just four rounds remaining in the year.

This weekend’s event will be Mike’s first at Queensland Raceway as part of the Australian Outdoor Living – Cube Racing team and while still classified as a privateer, Jones is confident that his outfit have developed a raft of setups and strategies that will place him high up the order against his factory supported opposition.

“I’m so excited to be competing at my home circuit with the Australian Outdoor Living – Cube Racing Team. I’ve done many laps around this circuit and I’m hoping it will give me an advantage on race day. The competition is fierce, but I’m confident of race wins against the factory teams and riders,” Jones said.

The ‘paperclip’ circuit as it is affectionally known is unlike many other tracks, with just six corners, fast straights and some of the heaviest braking points on the calendar, therefore requiring a large focus on development specifically in the area of suspension.

“I’ve done plenty of testing at the circuit with the team to help enhance my feeling on the bike and improve the performance. Developments have been made by working closely with XXX Rated Race Suspension particularly on the K-Tech rear suspension and further performance improvements have been made with the Woolich Racing Tuned products,” Jones added.

Competing at Queensland Raceway also provides the opportunity for Mike to put his skills on show to those closest to him, with friends and family in addition to his sponsors all taking the chance to be trackside and watch him compete at the highest level of road racing in the country.

“I’m really looking forward to having the support of the locals, my fellow Queenslanders, family and friends, and obviously my sponsors and supporters. It will be a great atmosphere so I’ll certainly be doing my best to achieve my goals and make the racing entertaining to watch,” Jones concluded.

Mike will be on track on Friday for practice and qualifying with two races each on Saturday and Sunday.
