Spriggs sweeps trio of Saturday Supersport races.
Yamaha Racing Team with Yamaha Motorcycle Insurance (YRT with YMI) rider Glenn Allerton won both races on Saturday at Queensland Raceway, the fourth round of the 2015 Australian FX-Superbike Championship (AFX-SBK).
The result has boosted Allerton to second in the AFX-SBK standings and will see him start from pole position in tomorrow’s premier Australasian Superbike Championship (ASC) round.
Allerton won the opening 16-lap journey by just 0.027s from teammate Cru Halliday and Matt Walters (Kawasaki Connection) in third, before in race two Allerton repeated by 0.738s over Troy Herfoss (Team Honda Racing) and Halliday.
Overall it was Allerton the dominant rider for his first round win of the year, joined on the Superbike podium by Halliday and series leader Herfoss, who has an 11-point buffer in the championship.
A sixth in race two secured Walters fourth overall, ahead of reigning champion Wayne Maxwell (YRT with YMI), who went 5-4 in today’s races, now tied for second in the standings with teammate Allerton.
In the Supersport ranks it was Queenslander Callum Spriggs (Yamaha) who won all three races, taking over the title lead in the process. He won the overall ahead of Troy Guenther (Kawasaki) and Brayden Elliott (Suzuki). Jay Presepio (Yamaha) and Michael Blair (Yamaha) completed the top five.
Other class winners on Saturday included Beau Beaton (Formula Oz), Paul Young (FX300 Ninja Cup), Kris Keen (Pro-Twins), Adrian Pierpont (Nakedbike) and Darren Wilbow (Formula Xtreme).
