Dual MotoGP World Champion still rates Marquez a threat.
Movistar Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo isn’t discounting Marc Marquez’s chances of claiming a third MotoGP World Championship, despite currently boasting a 50-point advantage over his countryman in the standings.
Lorenzo is currently tied with teammate Valentino Rossi after 11 rounds to date in 2015, leaving Marquez 52 points in arrears at this point.
“We still haven’t ruled Marquez out of the fight because there’s still a long way to go in the championship,” Lorenzo explained ahead of Silverstone.
“50 points seems a lot, but it’s not a lot. For sure Valentino is our main rival, maybe not because of his speed but his points.
“We’ve been lucky Marc has made so many mistakes this year. We have a good chance to win the championship for Yamaha, so we have to take advantage.”
Marquez has had a difficult season by his standards this year, winning just three races, but also racking up three DNFs along the way.
