Series leader sets early Superbike pace at Symmons Plains.
Australian Outdoor Living Cube Racing Kawasaki’s Mike Jones set the pace on Friday at Symmons Plains, round four of the 2015 Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul Pirelli.
Jones, who was on debut at the venue aboard a Superbike, was fastest with a 54.579s lap in practice three, leading title rival Daniel Falzon (JD Racing Yamaha) by 0.301s.
New Zealand’s Ryan Hampton (Next Gen Motorsports BMW) 0.866s back in third, with Jones’ Cube Racing teammate/team owner Ben Henry and Tasmanian local Brett Simmonds (Yamaha) completing the top five.
Fastest in Supersport was series leader Brayden Elliott (Hankook Tyres Suzuki) at 57.219s, with Kane Burns making it a GSX-R600 1-2 for today. Triumph-mounted Sam Lambert was third fastest, followed by Chris Quinn (Yamaha) and Aaiden Coote (Yamaha).
Other riders to top the timesheets on day one at Symmons Plains included Justin Hall (Production), Brian Houghton (Moto3/125GP), Andrew Blackberry (Club Challenge Formula 3) and Scott Campbell (Club Challenge Period 5-6).
