Australian Outdoor Living Cube Racing Kawasaki rider Mike Jones wrapped up the 2015 Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul Pirelli with a dominant double win at Symmons Plains in Tasmania on Sunday.

Jones clinched the championship with a round to spare after scoring Superpole and two race wins across the weekend; his 60-point advantage in the point standings enough to secure the number one plate with a maximum of 51 points remaining up for grabs.

The opening 17-lap Superbike race saw Jones sprint away to a 7.624s victory over Daniel Falzon (JD Racing Yamaha), who in turn was just 0.439s ahead of final podium placer Ben Henry (Australian Outdoor Living Cube Racing Kawasaki).

New Zealander Ryan Hampton (Next Gen Motorsports BMW) continued his run of form with fourth, well ahead of top-finishing Tasmanian Brad Wootton (North West Motorcycles Suzuki) after Brett Simmonds (Yamaha) crashed out on the final lap.

Come race two, Jones again controlled proceedings from the front, crossing the two-part race finish 12.875s ahead of the field in convincing fashion. The title was his after Falzon crashed out following a collision with Henry that caused a stoppage on lap 11.

Runner-up in race two was Hampton, who marginally got the better of Henry for both the race position and overall positions on the podium in second and third respectively. Quentin Blazley (Suzuki) and Wootton filled the top five.

Overall it was Elliott the victor from Burns and Aaiden Coote (Yamaha), whose 4-3 outranked Chris Quinn’s (Yamaha) 3-4 on countback for the final place on the overall podium. Thyron Van Vuuren (Kawasaki) completed the top five.

Other round winners on the Symmons Plains weekend included a perfect Tom Bramich in Moto3/125GP, Justin Hall (300 Production), Brian Bezzina (250 Production), Will Swan (Club Challenge Formula 3) and Dave McCullagh (Club Challenge Period 5-6).
