Australia’s five-time Qatar Superbike Champion Alex Cudlin has commenced his title defence with a dominant double race win at the Losail Circuit over the weekend.

QMMF Racing Team Kawasaki-mounted Cudlin won both races over last year’s championship runner-up Mishal Al Naimi – the first by 0.887s and the second by a commanding 9.985s.

“I am very happy with the results,” Cudlin said. “Obviously winning the two races is perfect for the championship, it is the way we wanted to start. The bike is a bit slower in the straight compared to Mishal and we need to fix this if it is possible for the next round to be more strong, but the chassis of the bike is perfect.”

The championship standings see Cudlin off the an early lead in the seven-round 2015/2016 series, with a perfect 50 points to his credit following round one.
