Yamaha Racing Team with Yamaha Motorcycle Insurance (YRT with YMI) standout Cru Halliday will enter this weekend’s fifth round of the Swann Insurance Australasian Superbike Championship (FX-ASC) with “nothing to lose” in the title chase.

The 27-year-old broke through for his first career victory at Sydney Motorsport Park’s third round in June, carrying that form over at Queensland Raceway’s most recent round with a trio of second place finishes until crashing out of the final race last month.

That incident has placed Halliday 35 points outside of title leader and local Goulburn hero Troy Herfoss in the standings, effectively forcing him to take further risks in a bid to close that deficit across the final three rounds.

“I’ve got nothing really to lose anymore, as I’m a bit behind in the championship,” Halliday commented, currently fourth overall. “All I can do from here is improve, as I can’t go any further back than what I am really.

“It’s going to be hard to crawl myself back towards the pointy end of the championship, so I’m just going to try and go for race and overall round wins and see where it puts me at the end of year.”

Halliday endured mixed results in last year’s pair of FX-ASC rounds at Wakefield Park on board the previous model YZF-R1, finishing ninth overall at rounds one and five in the 2014 season on his way to sixth in the championship.
