LMR Honda’s Linden Magee has made his long-awaited return to this year’s Swann Insurance Australasian Superbike Championship (FX-ASC) at Wakefield Park during practice today.

The 34-year-old had his right elbow operated on from a crash that he had at the final round of the New Zealand Superbike Championship at Taupo, sidelining him from the Sydney and Queensland rounds.

Magee was due to make his return at the fourth round of the championship at Queensland Raceway, however after having a scan on his arm before round four it revealed that tendon in his arm was not healed enough to put load through it.

“It’s nice to be back out there, that’s for sure,” Magee told CycleOnline.com.au. “Still my right arm is not back to 100 percent strength, so I’m struggling a bit on the brakes.”

Magee is just easing into the weekend, as the next five weeks is a busy schedule with the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix and round six of the Swann Series taking place the weekend after the Phillip Island MotoGP round.

Magee’s only time out on track lately was last week at a test at Wakefield Park, which basically “rode around” to see how his arm was. The likeable character is not setting any goals this weekend in regards to results.

“We are slowly getting up to speed in every session,” he added. “We have gone quicker and quicker which is a positive thing, but I’m not setting any goals for this weekend.”
