Reigning champion Wayne Maxwell has claimed pole position for tomorrow’s fifth round of the 2015 Australian FX-Superbike Championship (AFX-SBK) at Wakefield Park in Goulburn, New South Wales.

Maxwell led a Yamaha Racing Team with Yamaha Motorcycle Insurance (YRT with YMI) 1-2 in the session, his record-breaking 57.877s edging out teammate Cru Halliday by 0.043s.

Hometown hero Troy Herfoss (Team Honda Racing) was third and the final rider within the 57s bracket at 57.998s, followed by Glenn Allerton (YRT with YMI) and Jamie Stauffer on the second of the factory Hondas.

Top of the Kawasakis was Mike Jones in sixth for Australian Outdoor Living – Cube Racing, trailed by Matthew Walters (Kawasaki Connection), Sean Condon (BikeBiz / Ipone / Swann Insurance Racing Kawasaki) and Ben Burke (SA Kawasaki Bcperformance) – all within a second of the pole time.

Completing the top 10 for today in his return to competition was Linden Magee (LMR Honda), overcoming a crash during the session, while the field was rounded out by William Davidson (YRD / Thomas Brothers Yamaha) and Evan Byles (SA Kawasaki Bcperformance).

In Formula Oz Paul Byrne (LTR Honda) claimed the pole position ahead of Beau Beaton (Racers Edge Performance / Craig McMartin Racing / North Coast V-Twins Ducati) and Mitch Paynter (Kawasaki), while other pole-setters for today included Paul Young (FX300 Ninja Cup), Beaton (Pro-Twins), Adrian Pierpoint (Nakedbikes) and Darren Wilbow (Formula Xtreme).

The lone Supersport qualifying was abandoned after three laps in the session due to weather and time restraints late this afternoon, scheduled to restart and finalise positions tomorrow morning.
