Taree talent Josh Hook’s debut in the Moto2 World Championship at Motegi didn’t go according to plan, however he will use the valuable experience to his advantage at Phillip Island’s Pramac Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix this weekend.

Hook, who is a regular in the All Japan Superbike Championship and starred at the Suzuka 8 Hours with second alongside Dominique Aegerter earlier this year, crashed out of Sunday’s 15-lap encounter.

In his first of three appearances with the Technomag Racing Interwetten team, Hook qualified in 23rd position as he hurried to get to grips with the Kalex Moto2 machine with limited seat time on the race weekend.

“It was a disappointing finish to my debut in Moto2,” Hook explained. “We felt really good in morning warm-up. We made a slight change to the bike for the race, the conditions changed quite a lot, which had a big effect on the bike. I’ve learnt a lot this weekend and I am really looking forward to my home GP next week. Once again a huge thanks to Technomag Interwetten, they are doing a great job.”

Hook is also scheduled to contest the Grand Prix of Malaysia at the Sepang International Circuit following his home round at Phillip Island this weekend.
