Demmery makes progress at Winton

Noise Guard Racing press release:

Winton is a track I have always liked. I actually had my first ever road race at the Northern Victorian track and like the layout a lot. I had also had a chance to test on the Yamaha R6 prior to this event when we were trying to find the source of the gearbox issues we were having early in the year.

The weather all weekend was great, completely different from last year’s event which saw temperatures as low as -3. Friday’s Practice and Qualifying sessions went smoothly for us. We used the day as a test day, making changes to the bike to see what worked best for me. I actually set a faster time in practice 4 than I did in Qualifying after a change we made was slightly off. To Qualify in 12th felt great.

The lap time difference between me and the leaders was closer than I had been all year, and to be just outside the top 10 was a reward for all the hard work the team had been putting in
Saturday Races I was able to improve my position a little and scored my first ever top 10 finish in the Supersports class.

Sunday started off great. The Team were awarded Best Presented Team by the Australian Motorcycle News magazine. We pay extra attention to how the bikes look, and try our best to promote those sponsors that help us get to each and every round. To be noticed, and to take home an award is recognition for all the hard work the guys in the team put in between race meetings.

Buy a copy of the AMCN magazine this Thursday for a pull out poster.Racing on Sunday was great. I really enjoyed some of the battles I had with other riders, and also running behind the front pack watching and learning how I can go faster. I was able to set my fastest lap of the weekend (1.28.1) in the final race. Chris my mechanic didn’t stop trying to find speed all weekend.

I want to thank him for all the hard work he does not only at the track, but behind the scenes also. I now sit in 13th position in the Overall Championship and 7th in the B Grade Championship.
I’m hoping to finish the year inside the top 10 in both Now we get ready to go back to Buriram in Thailand the start of December for the final round of the Asian Road Racing Championships on the Yamaha R25.

The team and I have been working hard to develop the new bike into a race winner all year, my team mate Kasma nearly managed a win last time out, so we will continue pushing hard for the first win for the Yamaha Factory to thank them for all their hard work throughout the year. We are looking forward to seeing if all the hard work has paid off.
