Honda Certified Technician Excellence Award winners announced

Honda Motorcycles press release:

Honda Motorcycles has revealed the winners of its annual Honda Certified Technician (HCT) Excellence Award. The prestigious award was introduced in 2014 and aims to recognise Honda technicians’ commitment to their technical training and skill development.

Moto Adelaide technician Tom Ames has been announced as the national winner of the 2015 HCT Excellence Award, from over 250 candidates around the country.

Five regional finalists were selected to attend the final presentation on October 15, where awards were presented by Honda’s Manager of Training Services, Keith Lewis, and Senior Motorcycles Trainer, Richard Wojcicki.

Keith Lewis said the awards are a great opportunity for the manufacturer to recognise the hard work, skill and dedication shown throughout its entire dealer network.

“The product that our technicians provide, offers true value,” said Lewis. “We need to acknowledge the valuable contribution that these highly skilled individuals provide to our dealer network and our industry as a whole. Honda Invests in programs like the Honda Certified Technician Program and this Excellence Award to demonstrate our commitment to our national dealer network.

“We believe that our dealership technicians are among the best in the world for their mechanical expertise, diagnostic ability and focus on customer service. I would hereby like to congratulate all of the regional winners and Tom Ames for taking out the National Excellence Award for 2015.”

Finalists Bryce Thompson (NSW/ACT), Gavin Goodman (QLD), Tom Ames (SA/NT), Troy Winzer (VIC/TAS) and Derek Visser (WA) received an exciting finalist prize, which included a trip to Melbourne to attend the 2015 Australian MotoGP as Honda VIP guests.

National winner Ames, who works at South Australia’s Moto Adelaide service centre, also received a brand new Honda CB650F.

“I’m absolutely over the moon about taking the National Winner title of the Honda Certified Technician Excellence Award,” said Ames. “I was excited to be picked as the SA & NT regional winner, and attend the MotoGP, but to win the overall prize is fantastic. It is rewarding to be recognised for all our hard work and effort and to receive the recognition. Thank you to Honda”

Honda Managing Director Mr Robert Toscano and Honda Director Mr Masayuki Hamamatsu presented Tom Ames with the keys to his new Honda CB650F.

Honda would like to congratulate the 2015 winners and thank all the motorcycle technicians and dealerships who participated in the HCT Excellence Award program and look forward to continuing the program in 2016.
