Streamed live around the globe, Ducati’s release of its 2016 new models on the eve of the 2015 EICMA show has seen seven new machines unveiled from the Italian manufacturer.

With the 959 Panigale mid-weight superbike featured in this standalone Bike article on CycleOnline.com.au, Ducati’s introductions didn’t end there.

Having already released the Monster 1200 R just weeks ago, the 2016 new model released saw the addition of two new Ducati Scramblers, the new Hypermotard 939 family, the new Panigale 959, the Multistrada 1200 Pikes Peak, the new Multistrada 1200 Enduro and the eagerly awaited XDiavel cruiser.

The XDiavel sees Ducati enter the cruiser world in its own inimitable way by presenting a true cruiser that has all the design, technology and performance one expects from a Ducati thoroughbred. It features a new 1262cc, twin-cylinder Testastretta DVT engine that throws out 117kW of power and nearly 130Nm of torque at 5000rpm.

In addition, the all-new Multistrada 1200 Enduro sees Ducati enter the maxi-enduro segment. With spoked wheels – 19-inch at the front and 17-inch at the rear – the Multistrada 1200 Enduro is perfect for long adventure rides.

Developed from the base of a Multistrada 1200 S, the Pikes Peak version has a new race-inspired colour scheme, three-spoke black wheels, a carbon silencer and a low racing-type carbon screen, carbon fibre front mudguard, front tank cover and lateral front partitions, while the red-stitched seat has been specially designed to bring out this Multistrada’s racing spirit. Underscoring the sporting character of the Multistrada 1200 Pikes Peak are the Öhlins fork and Öhlins TTX36 shock absorber.

The Hypermotard range has also grown in capacity for 2016 with a new 937cc Testastretta 11-degree engine. Used for the whole range, from the sporty Hypermotard 939 to the extreme Hypermotard 939 SP as well as the Hyperstrada 939, the bigger engine boasts 84kW but, most importantly, 10 percent more torque.

The Scrambler range has grown with the introduction of the Scrambler Sixty2 – a lighter, slimmer 399cc with a 160/60 x 17-inch and ABS as standard. This is a machine designed for entry-level riders and is sure to be a great success for Ducati now any rider can ride one!

Troy Bayliss was on hand at the model unveiling to introduce the Flat Track Pro version of the Ducati Scrambler Based on the Scrambler Full Throttle, the Flat Track Pro version features an all-new Racing Yellow tank with two-tone painted side panels, low tapered handlebars and a low Termignoni slip-on pipe.

This solo seat machine has a side-mounted plate holder, while the nose fairing and short front mudguard, the same colour as the tank, are also unique to the Flat Track Pro version. This machine also has numerous machined-from-solid parts giving it a true flat track look.

In addition to the bikes, Ducati also presented a host of new accessories, special parts and a new clothing collection for 2016; the latter featuring both the more technical items and eye-catching apparel and accessories fully dedicated to the Ducati Scrambler world.
