Over 24,000 motorcycle enthusiasts flocked to Sydney Olympic Park for the 2015 Sydney Motorcycle Show proudly presented by InsureMyRide last weekend. Despite scorching temperatures of 43 degrees threatening to keep patrons away on Friday, a record number of new bikes being unveiled ensured a bumper crowd for the opening day.

Brands including Ducati, Triumph, BMW, Kawasaki, Indian, Victory, Harley-Davidson, Suzuki, Yamaha, MV Agusta and Royal Enfield all released new model motorcycles just days after their global launch at EICMA.

Suzuki Motorcycles national marketing manager Lewis Croft praised show organisers for a successful show: “I would like to say full credit to the show organisers for another successful FCAI motorcycle industry show.

“Mark, Troy and their dedicated team put on a show that entertained the crowd, provided value for the patrons, whilst helping Suzuki maintain its profile and brand awareness in the NSW market. Suzuki exhibited 50 motorcycles and unveiled for the first time in the Southern hemisphere the all-new SV650 V-Twin Fun machine.

“The show was the perfect platform to also announce our plan for the 2016 Motocross and Supercross Championship campaign with the announcement of our signing of World MX rider and local hero Todd Waters. Todd will compete on the factory Suzuki RM-Z450 with the support and management of Wilson MX,” Croft added.

A huge line-up of special guests mingled with show visitors across the weekend including football stars Nathan Hindmarsh and Michael Hooper who were on the Harley Davidson stand, motorcycle legend Kel Carruthers on the Yamaha stand, Graham Crosby at WFO and Garry McCoy at Steven Walter Foundation.

Show ambassador Robbie Maddison was easily one of the most popular guests, meeting fans Friday before returning Saturday to sign autographs.

Yamaha Motor Australia Communications Manager Sean Goldhawk said Yamaha enjoyed one of their best ever shows: “Yamaha used the 2015 Sydney Motorcycle Show to celebrate our 60th Anniversary and to communicate our new Blue and White world and Lifestyle product segments,” said Goldhawk.

“Our stand was designed for maximum interactivity and we invited our tuning fork partners Yamaha Music to help celebrate in a ‘two brands, one passion’ message. We revealed a range of new models at the show and received universally positive customer feedback. Our stand was humming the entire weekend making this event one of the best shows ever for Yamaha,” he added.

Showtime FMX, Lukey Luke, Jack Field and Dave McKenna performed exciting stunt shows while Epic Darren captivated both children and adults alike with his motorcycle comedy routine.

Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries chief executive Tony Weber thanked Troy Bayliss Events for helping to showcase such a dynamic industry.

“Australians witnessed the excitement, enthusiasm and professionalism of the Australian motorcycle industry, last weekend, with the Sydney Motorcycle Show displaying world-leading products, people and riders,” said Weber.

“The Sydney Motorcycle Show is Australia’s premier motorcycle event, allowing enthusiasts of all ages to interact with the latest bikes, products and services, and witness spectacular riding displays.”

With over 120 exhibitors and many more brands represented along with test rides from Harley-Davidson, Indian, Victory, MV Agusta, Royal Enfield and for the children Oset electric bikes the Sydney Motorcycle Show provided non-stop entertainment all weekend long.

Event organiser Troy Bayliss said the feedback from both exhibitors and consumers was extremely positive: “We have had a lot of feedback from exhibitors confirming they recorded their largest sales in Sydney in comparison to similar events,” said Bayliss.

“The atmosphere across the weekend was phenomanal and it was great to see so many people participating in the test rides. We would like to thank the exhibitors, sponsors and most importantly the visitors who attended the event,” Bayliss concluded.

Troy Bayliss Events choose not to include exhibitor, onsite staff and contractors attendance within the official attendance numbers released.
