Graffitialley Racing launched ahead of 2016 season.
Up and coming Queenslander Troy Guenther has confirmed that he will make the switch from racing a Kawasaki ZX-6R to a Yamaha YZF-R6 machine for 2016, which will mark his second year in the national Supersport ranks.
Guenther, 17, finished fourth in the YRD-backed Australian FX-Superbike and Swann Insurance Australasian Supersport Championships for 2015. His best overall finish for the year was at the opening round at Sydney Motorsport Park in March, after he finished second with a 4-2-4 result.
“I’m very enthusiastic to start this new adventure with Graffitialley Racing aboard the Yamaha R6,” Guenther told CycleOnline.com.au. “I am confident that working with Scott Heyes from Edge Perfomance, we can live up to its legacy and achieve good results.”
Graffitialley Racing is a newly-formed race team headed up by successful businessmen and avid motorcycling enthusiast David Davies. 2016 will mark its first national Supersport campaign with Guenther, who still has not locked in what championship he will race in for next year.
“It’s very exciting to have the support of YRD and Yamaha Australia and I would to like to say a big thank you to both of them and Graffitialley for providing me with this opportunity,” Guenther added.
“We haven’t made up our mind just yet on what series we will do next year. The ASC and ASBK both have really good championships and are really well run. We just want to go to the series that will give me the best development as a rider and the best exposure.”
The team’s first test aboard the Graffitialley Racing Yamaha YZF-R6 recently took place at Queensland Raceway.
