Queensland rising star Aiden Wagner will form part of the new GRT Racing Team on board an MV Agusta in the 2016 World Supersport Championship, signing to partner series front-runner Gino Rea.

Former Australasian Supersport Champion Wagner will be back for a full season in WorldSSP next year after a mixed campaign last year, this time riding the immaculate F3 675 machine.

“I’m really happy to be racing with the GRT Racing Team for the 2016 season,” Wagner explained. “In addition to now knowing 70 percent of the tracks on the calendar, I think the combination of the team and the MV is going to be a great step forward for me.

“I anticipate a great team environment, all the guys are not only really good at what they do, but they are great to work with. All of this put together should be a strong package for some competitive racing and strong results for the season. I can’t wait to get underway at my home event at Phillip Island.”

After starring as a wildcard in last year’s Phillip Island WorldSSP series opener, Wagner will be a hometown favourite at Phillip Island’s opening round on 26-28 February.
