Pirelli and Dunlop maintain involvement for new season.
Motorcycling Australia’s Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) presented by Motul Pirelli will maintain an open tyre policy for 2016 in preference over control tyre regulations.
MA CEO David Cottee welcomed back tyre manufacturers Pirelli and Dunlop to the ASBK championship in 2016, after both brands received positive feedback throughout the championship last year.
“As an organisation we are very pleased to have the continued support of both Pirelli and Dunlop for this year’s ASBK championship,” he said. “By once again homologating these two leading brands, we are continuing to offer our athletes and teams alike with the consistency and safety they deserve at an elite level.”
MA national technical officer Peter Doyle has once again supported a homologated list, which ensures riders can continue to race on safe tyres of their choice.
“The ASBK management team have stuck to what proves to work and it’s great to have a selection of tyres to suit riders across a wide range of classes,” he said. “The round one homologated list provides comprehensive tyre choices across two race-proven and trusted brands, so it’s great to be able to empower teams and riders to make choices that suit each individual racer.”
A homologated tyre list has been released by MA for round one, confirming both Pirelli and Dunlop’s presence in the series when it commences at Phillip Island alongside the World Superbike Championship on 26-28 February.
Update: It’s also been announced the addition of tyre manufacturer Bridgestone to the MA homologated tyre list in time for the first round of the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) at Phillip Island.
