JD Racing’s Daniel Falzon will campaign the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) for the 2016 season, in what will be his second term in the premier class.

Multiple national Supersport champion Falzon finished second in last year’s series on board the Caterpillar EPSA Yamaha YZF-R1, focusing solely on the ASBK championship.

“It is hard to go past the professionalism of the series,” a statement from the team confirmed. “We never lost faith in a resurgence and are confident Daniel can grow with greater competition.

“Following Daniel’s impressive results in his debut Superbike year, we are on form to run with the front runners once again. As a YRT-supported rider, we are proud to be running in the YMF-backed series.

“With the recent announcements of three factory teams contesting the opening round, the first time in several years in Australian racing, it’s a great sign for the future of the sport.”

Falzon looks forward to the challenge of competing against the factories at Phillip Island’s opening round on 26-28 February following a positive test at the Victorian venue earlier this week.

“I love racing the factory guys, so it’s great to hear they’ve all jumped on board for round one,” he commented. “It makes it a little harder for me to reach the top of the timesheets, but makes for great racing.”
